Customer story · S/4HANA

A US industrial packaging distributor consolidates finance from three ERP systems onto SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud in eight weeks

A US industrial packaging distributor ran accounts payable and receivable across three ERP systems. TSP consolidated AP and AR onto SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud in an eight-week sprint, fixing AP and AR processes that had been set up incorrectly, then led cutover and hypercare. Trial balances matched after migration, and finance now has one view of invoices, credits and balances.

01 · The challenge

Three ERP systems, eight weeks and little time to learn

The distributor operates a complex business across several industries, including mining and machinery. Running three different ERP systems gave it a fragmented view of the business. It needed AP and AR data from all three in a single SAP S/4HANA environment, with financial workflows aligned to audit standards, and it had a two-month window to go live. TSP started with limited knowledge of the system. AP and AR processes had been implemented incorrectly and needed immediate remediation, gaps in the initial SAP S/4HANA design had to be found and corrected, and data migration, cutover and go-live readiness all had to run in parallel, with extended hours.

02 · The approach

An eight-week sprint that built on what was there

TSP delivered the work in a focused eight-week sprint, building on the existing design and acting on critical items from the first day.

How the eight weeks were spent

  1. Design refinement

Fixed the AP and AR processes and resolved configuration gaps so the finance team had a simple experience.

  2. Interfaces

Managed the critical interfaces between SAP S/4HANA and CERM, the secondary ERP, so migrated data stayed accurate.

  3. Data migration

Planned and executed the migration and data loads.

  4. Transports

    Coordinated and controlled transport movements.

  5. Cutover and support

Led cutover planning and execution, then stayed on site for hypercare after go-live.

03 · The results

One view of invoices, credits and balances

  • AP and AR teams from three ERP systems now work on one platform
  • Management has a 360-degree view of supplier and customer invoices, credit notes, payments and balances
  • Trial balances matched after migration, and electronic bank statements processed from day one
  • Checks and validations added to close control gaps identified in audit
  • Live on time, with minimal disruption to operations, followed by stabilization and hypercare
