SAP for high-tech companies

Short product cycles, configurable products and hardware sold with services all push SAP hard. TSP moves high-tech companies to S/4HANA and puts agents to work on the supplier, returns and finance work that grows with every product line.

Growing fast on a lean team? About SAP GROW

High-tech companies run SAP for configurable products, contract manufacturing, subscriptions and global order-to-cash. The Silicon Partners (TSP), an SAP Gold Partner and UiPath Diamond Partner, helps electronics, hardware and software companies move from ECC to S/4HANA or implement it fresh, and automates supplier follow-up, returns and month-end close with AI agents.

Key questions

What high-tech leaders ask us about SAP

  • Can S/4HANA handle subscriptions and hardware sold with services?

Yes. S/4HANA’s revenue accounting splits a bundle’s price across its parts, such as the device, the software and the support contract, and recognizes each under ASC 606. Recurring billing can run in SAP’s subscription billing tools alongside it. Phase 0 maps your current billing and revenue setup, including custom code, so you know what changes.

    About Phase 0

  • What happens to our configurable products in S/4HANA?

Your configuration models need a review before migration. S/4HANA supports configure-to-order and offers Advanced Variant Configuration alongside the classic tool, and many companies simplify their models along the way. A Phase 0 assessment reads your models, pricing rules and related custom code, and shows what moves as is and what’s worth rebuilding.

    About Phase 0

  • How do we keep contract manufacturers in sync with SAP?

Start with clean data and fast follow-up. S/4HANA’s subcontracting processes keep components, stock at the supplier and orders visible, and standard interfaces connect your partners’ systems. Agents then handle the chasing: they confirm purchase orders, follow up on late deliveries and log supplier answers in SAP, so planners see the real picture without working through their inbox.

    Agentic automation

  • Where does AI help high-tech operations today?

Around suppliers, returns and finance. Agents expedite purchase orders, onboard new vendors, handle the paperwork for returned and refurbished parts, read invoices in any format and reconcile GR/IR and vendor accounts at month-end. They also keep the material master free of duplicates as products change. A pilot goes live in 6 to 8 weeks.

    Agentic automation

  • Do we have to move off SAP ECC by 2027?

SAP’s mainstream maintenance for ECC ends at the end of 2027, and extended maintenance to 2030 costs extra. A high-tech migration has to fit around product launches and quarter-end close, so decisions made now decide when your cutover can land. Phase 0 gives you a timeline that fits both SAP’s dates and your calendar.

FAQ

Questions about High-Tech

Straight answers to what SAP leaders ask us most.

Talk to an SAP expert

Is the public cloud realistic for a fast-growing high-tech company?

Often, yes. Companies whose processes stay close to standard can run S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition through SAP GROW and get SAP’s updates automatically. Heavy configuration, complex billing or many contract manufacturers usually point to RISE with SAP. Phase 0 tests both. See SAP GROW and RISE with SAP.

Can S/4HANA track serial numbers through returns and repairs?

Yes. Serial numbers stay with each unit through shipment, warranty claims, returns, repair and refurbishment, so service teams can see a unit’s full history. TSP configures the returns and repair flows around how your service operation works.

Will our export compliance and channel processes carry over?

They need checking like any other process. Phase 0 includes your trade compliance setup, distributor and channel partner processes, and the interfaces behind them, and the migration plan tests each one before cutover.
