Move off SAP HCM before 2027

Mainstream maintenance for on-prem SAP ERP HCM ends in 2027. CloudConversion plans your move to SAP SuccessFactors, and TSP FastMove uses AI to migrate data, configuration and run payroll parallel tests in a fraction of the usual time.

An SAP HCM to SuccessFactors migration moves core HR, payroll and time from on-premise SAP ERP HCM to SAP’s cloud HCM suite. The Silicon Partners (TSP) plans the move with CloudConversion and runs it with FastMove, which automates data migration, configuration transport and payroll parallel testing, cutting project timelines by up to 50%.

  • Up to 50%Faster HCM migration timelines
  • 40–60%Faster payroll parallel testing
  • 100+HCM customers served

Should we move to SuccessFactors or SAP HCM for S/4HANA?

Move to SuccessFactors if you want SAP’s cloud HCM roadmap: AI, Joule agents and twice-yearly innovation. Consider SAP HCM for S/4HANA (H4S4) as an on-premise bridge if payroll is highly customized or regulations keep HR data on-premise. Many companies combine them: Employee Central in the cloud first, payroll later.

How the move works

From contract to cloud payroll, in four stages

  1. CloudConversion

Your HCM landscape assessed, the options compared and the business case built: which countries and modules move first, and in what order.

  2. CloudPlan

Phase 0 for the move: design decisions, integrations, payroll approach, data strategy and cutover plan agreed before the build. TSP ARIA reviews the scope and flags risks early.

  3. Build and migrate with FastMove

Specifications, tests, data migration and cutover. FastMove’s AI and RPA move and validate employee data in days, where it usually takes weeks, and transport configuration 30 to 50% faster.

  4. Payroll parallel testing

Payroll runs in the old and new systems side by side, and results are compared automatically. FastMove makes each parallel cycle 40 to 60% faster, so you can afford more of them.

  5. Go-live, hypercare and CloudCare

Hypercare through the first payroll cycles, then CloudCare support with AI-assisted operations and release testing.

What TSP FastMove automates in an HCM move

  • Abstract illustration of employee records streaming from an old system through a validation gate into a new one.

    Data migration and validation

Employee, organization and history data extracted, transformed, loaded and checked by AI and RPA, in days where it usually takes weeks.

  • Configuration transport

Configuration moved between environments 30 to 50% faster, with fewer manual steps to get wrong.

  • Payroll parallel testing

Old and new payroll results compared line by line, 40 to 60% faster per cycle.

  • Regression testing

150+ pre-built SuccessFactors tests rerun after every build, so each test cycle is comparable.

  • Onboarding migration

50+ bots and 10+ accelerators move onboarding to SuccessFactors’ current Onboarding module, 33% faster at half the cost.

  • Integrations

Links to SAP ERP or S/4HANA finance, benefits, time and third-party payroll rebuilt and tested end to end.

What happens to SAP HCM on-premise in 2027?

Mainstream maintenance for SAP ERP HCM and payroll ends at the end of 2027. Extended maintenance is available at extra cost until the end of 2030. After that, companies need to be on SAP SuccessFactors, on SAP HCM for S/4HANA on-premise, or on another HR system. A payroll move takes careful testing, so most companies plan it well ahead.

End of 2030Optional extended maintenance ends
After 2030Supported paths: SAP SuccessFactors in the cloud, or SAP HCM for S/4HANA on-premise

A move done before the deadline lets you choose the timing, test payroll across several cycles and avoid paying for extended maintenance.

FAQ

Questions about SAP HCM to SuccessFactors migration

Straight answers to what SAP leaders ask us most.

Talk to an SAP expert

How long does an SAP HCM to SuccessFactors migration take?

It depends on countries, modules and payroll. Core HR for one country can move in a few months, while multi-country payroll programs run in waves over a year or more. FastMove shortens project timelines by up to 50%, mostly by automating data migration and payroll testing.

Can we move core HR first and payroll later?

Yes, and many companies do. Employee Central goes live first and stays integrated with on-premise payroll until payroll moves. TSP has delivered this hybrid setup, including integrations between Employee Central and SAP ERP HCM.

What is a lift and shift of payroll?

Moving your existing payroll rules and data from on-premise SAP to Employee Central Payroll with as little redesign as possible. It’s faster and lower risk than redesigning payroll at the same time. TSP has lifted and shifted core HR and payroll for a 13,000-employee US utility using its own tools.

Does this have to happen at the same time as our S/4HANA move?

No. HCM and ERP can move on separate timelines, and SuccessFactors integrates with both SAP ECC and S/4HANA. Planning them together still helps, because integrations, cost centers and payroll postings change once. TSP runs both. See SAP S/4HANA services.

What happens to our historical HR data?

You choose how much history moves into SuccessFactors and what stays archived. FastMove migrates and validates the history you keep, and the rest can be archived for audit and legal access.
