SAP Cloud ERP for CPG, from retailer order to settled deduction

Retailer deductions, promotions and shelf-life rules squeeze CPG margins every week. TSP moves CPG companies to S/4HANA and automates the deductions, payments and orders that keep finance and customer service busy.

Buried in deductions? See agentic automation

Consumer packaged goods companies run SAP for demand planning, batch and shelf-life control, trade promotions and retailer order-to-cash. The Silicon Partners (TSP), an SAP Gold Partner and UiPath Diamond Partner, helps CPG companies move from ECC to S/4HANA and automates retailer deductions, cash application and sales orders with AI agents.

What we hear

What makes SAP different in CPG

  • Retailer deductions

Short payments, promotion claims and compliance fines that pile up faster than AR can resolve them.

  • Trade promotions

Promotion spend planned in one place, settled in another and hard to tie back to results.

  • Demand that keeps moving

Seasonal peaks, promotions and new products that change the forecast every week.

  • Batches and shelf life

Lots and expiry dates tracked across plants, warehouses and co-packers, shipped first-expiry-first-out.

  • Retailer orders and EDI

High-volume EDI orders, retailer portals and labeling rules that every shipment has to meet.

  • Co-manufacturers and suppliers

Production and packaging spread across partners, with data arriving by email and spreadsheet.

Key questions

What CPG leaders ask us about SAP

  • How can agents help with retailer deductions?

An agent reads the remittance and its backup, matches each deduction to an invoice, a promotion or a claim, and posts it in SAP, sending disputes and unclear cases to your team with the evidence attached. At a cooperative that sells consumer products, TSP’s automation now posts customer deductions every day with no manual keying.

    Agentic automation

  • What happens to our pricing and promotions in S/4HANA?

Pricing conditions largely carry over. Rebates move to condition contracts in Settlement Management, and custom promotion logic often needs a fresh look. Phase 0 maps your pricing procedures, promotion settlements and custom code, so you know what moves as is, what simplifies and what to rebuild before the project is scoped.

    About Phase 0

  • How do we migrate without missing a season?

Work back from your demand calendar. TSP sets the cutover for your quietest weeks, well clear of holiday builds and major promotions, runs rehearsed mock conversions before them, and tests with real orders, batches and retailer EDI. Stock builds ahead of cutover are planned with supply chain, so shelves stay full while the system changes.

    How a TSP migration runs

  • Can SAP IBP help us plan promotions and launches?

Yes. SAP IBP brings statistical forecasting, demand sensing and supply planning into one plan that sales, operations and finance share, so promotions, seasonal peaks and launches show up before they hit the plants. TSP connects it to S/4HANA, so the plan reflects real orders and stock.

    Analytics and planning

  • Do we have to move off SAP ECC by 2027?

SAP’s mainstream maintenance for ECC ends at the end of 2027, and extended maintenance to 2030 costs extra. A CPG migration has to fit around demand peaks, promotions and retailer testing windows, so decisions made now decide when your cutover can land. Phase 0 gives you a timeline that fits all of it.

FAQ

Questions about Consumer Packaged Goods

Straight answers to what SAP leaders ask us most.

Talk to an SAP expert

Will our retailer EDI and labeling keep working after the move?

Yes, once each connection is retested. Phase 0 lists every retailer connection and labeling requirement, and the migration plan schedules retailer testing early. Orders, ship notices, invoices and remittances are all tested before cutover.

Can S/4HANA manage shelf life and first-expiry-first-out?

Yes. Batch management with expiry dates and first-expiry-first-out picking is standard in S/4HANA, in inventory management and in Extended Warehouse Management. TSP configures it around how your plants, warehouses and co-packers handle product.

Is RISE with SAP or SAP GROW the better fit for a CPG company?

It depends on how far your processes are from standard. CPG companies with complex pricing, promotions or several plants usually need RISE with SAP and S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition. Those close to standard can move faster on SAP GROW. Phase 0 tests both against your system. See RISE with SAP and SAP GROW.
